PRODUCT TESTING SERVICES
Formulation Robustness Analysis (FRA)
Combining advanced rheological testing, particle size and zeta potential analysis with temperature cycling to simultaneously identify potential stability issues and allow them to be rapidly resolved, before investing months on traditional stability testing – a skinterest innovation.
Traditional Accelerated and Real-Time Stability Testing
The industry standard for substantiating product shelf-life, ensuring ongoing quality in market and protecting brand reputation. This contributes to substantiation of product shelf-life and expiry dates as well as PAO (Period After Opening) durations.
Rapidly identifies physical stability-related problems invisible to the eye, including creaming, sedimentation, flocculation, and coalescence. A great tool for the incorporation of QbD (Quality by Design) into product development process and a way to quickly evaluate new formulations against market products, prior to investing in accelerated stability testing.
Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET)
Support product shelf-life claims and ensures product resistance to microbial contamination, avoiding development of odour, causes of irritation, skin infection or unsightly growth.
Solids and Moisture
Ensures consistency in formulation solids and moisture content, which is critical to product quality as excess evaporation or weighing errors are common causes for product quality issues.
Particle size analysis
Uses dynamic light scattering (DLS), laser diffraction, and/or digital microscopy to measure particle sizes. Small and uniform particle sizes are critical to long term stability.
Substantiates key claims, including ‘suitable for sensitive skin’ and ‘non-irritating’ among many others used for product promotion and marketing.
Sunscreen and SPF Testing
Required to support all SPF claims in addition to broad spectrum and UVA protection, premature skin ageing and skin cancer prevention.
Viscosity and rheology, including yield stress
Helps understand the physical foundations of liquid products critical to long term stability across a variety of conditions.
Determines product resistance to separation, including creaming of emulsions and sedimentation of dispersed solids quickly and easily.
Helps avoid incorrect pH levels which can trigger incompatibilities, instability, and skin irritations.
Determines whether your product requires preservatives or if your preservative-free product is at risk of microbial contamination.
The test ensures low conductivity in a formula, which is key to guaranteeing water quality for personal care and pharmaceutical products.
Measuring particles in suspension, correct zeta potential is critical to minimising coalescence and agglomeration of particles and enhances product stability.
